Alternative facts are not facts
Self-interested politicians and their deep-pocketed corporate cronies have declared war on our planet: threatening to ‘cancel’ the Paris Climate Agreement, re-starting coal plants and building unnecessary pipelines, decimating the EPA budget, gutting environmental protections, and packing an administration with climate deniers. That portends a future where scientific evidence is not only ignored, but eliminated entirely.
At the same time, Americans are rapidly growing fed up with the continued priority of corporate profits above people and the planet. Concern for global warming is at an 8-year high — with 64% of U.S. adults worrying a ‘fair amount’ or ‘a great deal’ about global warming!
Are you ready for a government that believes in climate change and embraces the job-creating opportunities of renewable energy?
There has never been a more critical time to engage on environmental issues. Science, scientists, and evidence-based policymaking are under attack. Censorship of researchers, disappearing datasets, and threats to dismantle government agencies harm us all — putting our health, food, air, water, climate, and jobs at risk. It’s time for people who value science to make their voices heard.
This Saturday, on Earth Day, tens of thousands will March for Science in Washington DC and around the world. They march to celebrate science, its importance to each of our lives, and its critical link to politics.
At Brand New Congress, we know science matters, facts matter, and the planet cannot wait for Washington to reach a political consensus on climate change. That’s why our platform includes the commitment to make America the first 100% clean energy economy in the world within 10 years.
The goals of the March for Science align perfectly with our vision for a New Energy Economy — to embrace scientific consensus, creating millions of jobs and putting America back at the forefront of new industries. Our candidates will be champions for evidence-based science which can, and should, influence policy, guide our long-term decision-making, and protect the future of our planet.
