Cory has worked all over the world as learning and development professional across a wide range of industries for 18 years. She always followed politics, but was moved by Bernie’s campaign and compelled to become more involved. She followed Brand New Congress from the beginning, and began volunteering in January 2017.
Cory and her husband have been rescuing animals for over 10 years. When she’s not looking after their dozens of dogs, cats, chickens, and ducks, she enjoys reading, writing, traveling, and dabbling in photography.
“For most of my life, politics has been a kind of cynical amusement. I’d argue about the issues with friends we’d all bet on the horse we thought was going to win. Over the last 10 years, that began to change. I discovered many things I believed to be true didn’t stand up to evidence. The notion that “If you work hard, you can get ahead” just didn’t bear out. As I witnessed more and more people pushed to the margins, I finally began to understand how the deck is stacked against so many. I began to understand that politics is not an entertaining distraction, but the thing that defines our lives and determines our future. We can either choose to be the ones to shape those policies, or we can be subject to decisions made by others. After the 2016 election, I decided it was time to get involved.”
